Bismillah alhamdulillah..
The story of Prophet Musa (peace be upon him) is mentioned throughout the Qur'an, but one chapter in particular — Surah Al-Qasas — focuses deeply on his journey and the liberation of bani Israel.
We recite to you from the news of Moses and Pharaoh in truth for people who believe. Because ONLY true believers take lessons from these stories.
With everything happening around us in the world — the injustice, oppression, and the cycle of history repeating itself — we begin to see why Allah reminds us of the story of Musa again and again throughout the Qur'an.
Pharaoh was full of pride and arrogance. He divided his people into different classes to maintain control, and he oppressed one group—Bani Israel. He went so far as to have their sons killed and their women left alive, using fear and cruelty to keep them powerless.
Allah says, “Indeed, Pharaoh exalted (wanted to be high) himself in the land...” (Qur'an 28:4). This refers to seeking the highest position, prestige, status, and authority — driven by ego and pride.
People like firon essentially worship themselves; Hawa as their ilah. following their own whims and desires. Anything that comes in the way of their ego or authority, they eliminate, even if it means cheating, committing crimes, spreading corruption in the land (fitnah and fasād), or carrying out massacres.
As we often see people doing on social media. This reminder is first and foremost for me and for you.
We need to look inward and ask ourselves: how do we behave when we are given authority, even in small ways — at home with our families, with our children, at workplaces, or in our communities? Do we treat others fairly, or do we let our sense of power make us feel superior?
If any of us start to think we're above others— then we’ve fallen into the same dangerous mindset: ala fil-ardh (seeking to rise above others in the land). This is the very behavior that Shaytān himself was guilty of — arrogance and pride. So back to the surah al-qasas
Allah makes it clear that His will is to uplift the oppressed—to give them strength, honor, and eventually make them leaders and inheritors of the land.
And We wanted to confer favor upon those who were oppressed in the land and make them leaders and make them inheritors.
But there are conditions. Liberation and change don’t come just from words (lip service) or vague hopes, it’s not enough to simply wish for it. This journey isn’t easy, and yes, it can feel long and difficult. But it’s possible.
It demands real effort. It calls for deep sacrifice, unwavering patience, and unshakable faith. It means truly trusting in Allah, perhaps in extreme conditions. It requires us to raise our children with purpose—with proper tarbiya, discipline, and strong values. Sometimes, it might even mean leaving behind what’s familiar and from our comfort zone– making Hijra, just like Musa (AS) did, in search of a place where faith can flourish.
Change doesn’t come cheap—but for those who are willing to walk the path with sincerity, and yaqeen - Allah’s help is near.
Allah ﷻ shifts the focus to the mother of Musa (peace be upon him).
I want you to pause for a moment and think of the images and videos we've seen — mothers in Gaza, holding their lifeless babies... fathers carrying the bodies of their children... tiny ones pulled from under rubble... children with no electricity, no water, no food... babies who’ve lost their parents, and parents who’ve lost everything.
Can you even begin to imagine what’s going through their hearts and minds in those moments?
Now, think about the mother of Musa (AS). Allah brings our attention to her. Why? Because she was a mother who lived under oppression. She was forced to let go of her baby — to place him in a river, not knowing if she would ever see him again.
Allah acknowledges her pain. Her fear. Her heartbreak. And by doing so, He reminds us that He sees all mothers like her — even today. So Allah says: And We inspired the mother of Moses, "Suckle him.
we revealed/inspired the mother of Musa. Feed him/ the baby; because when the guards come to your home and if you don't want him to cry then they find out, so suckle him he should be fine. or if you get scared throw him in the river. Allah says" but when you fear for him, cast him into the river and do not fear and do not grieve.
Usually what we used to do is if we get scared of our child, we cover them up, but Allah says the opposite to the mother of Musa AS -if you are scared for your child, put him in the river. & do not fear and do not grieve
Because! And Allah’s promise is the truth -
Indeed, We will return him to you and will make him [one] of the messengers.
Those lands where innocent children are being massacred, those lifeless babies in your hand today, Allah will bring them and reunite you in Jannah. Don’t worry, don’t be sad. إِنَّا رَادُّوهُ إِلَيْكِ. this could be one of the interpretations… Allah-o-Alam.
If you are patient in this test and suffering, the reward is Jannah. Perhaps a free ticket for you because of your patience/sabr.
Remember, this life is temporary. The hereafter is eternal. And every moment of suffering you endure with patience brings you closer to everlasting peace. May Allah SWT give us the Taufeeq. Ameen Ya Rabb
Surah Al-Qasas offers deep insight into the journey of Bani Israel—from a people crushed by oppression to those elevated by divine justice. This chapter isn’t just historical; it’s deeply motivational. It teaches us how Allah’s plan unfolds over time and how true liberation begins with inner transformation.
We see the sacrifice of the mother of Musa AS and Allah fulfilled the promise He ﷻ restored Musa - Allah says:
فَرَدَدْنَاهُ إِلَىٰ أُمِّهِ كَيْ تَقَرَّ عَيْنُهَا وَلَا تَحْزَنَ
وَلِتَعْلَمَ أَنَّ وَعْدَ اللَّهِ حَقٌّ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ
So We restored him to his mother so that she might be content and not grieve and that she would know that the promise of Allah is true. But most of the people do not know.
Indeed, the promise of Allah is always true— but it doesn't always unfold the way we expect, or when we expect. It comes through patience, struggle, and unwavering trust/tawakkul.
Then Allah narrates..an incident happened to Musa.
Musa (AS) was raised in the palace of Pharaoh but carried in his heart the love and pain of his people.
In a moment of defending a fellow Israelite, he struck the other person and unintentionally caused a man’s death, a heavy mistake. But what did he do? He turned back to Allah with sincere repentance. Allah forgave him. Because Allah is Al-Ghafoor, Ar-Raheem—the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful.
When the news spread and Pharaoh sought to kill him, Musa fled to Madyan—a journey of both physical and spiritual escape.
He left behind power, comfort, and status to preserve his faith. This was his hijrah (migration). And he made this duaa .
In Madyan, he helped two women who came to water their animals -flocks—not knowing this act of kindness would lead to a home, a marriage, and years of training under a righteous man – Prophet Shuaib AS. Scholars say this was no accident—it was divine preparation. Every prophet was trained through 'shepard' service, patience, and humility.
Eventually, Allah spoke to Musa at Mount Sinai and appointed him as a Prophet. Even then, Musa asked for help—Asked his brother Haroon to be by his side. And Allah granted Haroon prophethood SA. A powerful lesson in teamwork, humility, and knowing your limitations.
Then came the confrontation with Firon—a tyrant who was arrogant and oppressive. But in the end, truth always prevails, and falsehood always perishes. Allah drowned Firon and his army and left their story as a warning for generations.
- Their story is left as a lesson for future generations.
So We seized/took him and his soldiers and threw them into the sea. So see how was the end of the wrongdoers." (28:40)
And thus, Allah fulfilled His promise:
وَنُرِيدُ أَن نَّمُنَّ عَلَى الَّذِينَ اسْتُضْعِفُوا فِي الْأَرْضِ وَنَجْعَلَهُمْ أَئِمَّةً وَنَجْعَلَهُمُ الْوَارِثِينَ
“And We intended to favor those who were oppressed in the land, to make them leaders and inheritors.” (28:5)
It didn’t happen overnight. It took decades of struggle, sacrifice, and spiritual preparation. But the oppressed were raised up—and they inherited the land.
Dear brothers and sisters,
The story of Bani Israel is not just a lesson in history—it is a guide for our times. When we see injustice, when we feel weak, when we think help is too far—remember this story. Real change takes time. It requires nurturing strong hearts, raising resilient generations, and having unwavering faith in Allah’s promise.
It's not enough to just talk about change. It takes real effort, deep sacrifice, and a heart full of conviction. But if we walk the path sincerely, Allah will lift the oppressed and make them leaders once again.
So let us renew our trust in Allah. Let us do our part in raising a generation with strong faith, discipline, and purpose. And let us never give up hope in Allah’s help and mercy, no matter how long it takes.
We ask Allah for the correct understanding. May Allah SWT grant us the Taufeeq – ameen ya Rab.
O Allah, grant us the patience and trust of the mother of Musa.
O Allah, strengthen our hearts in times of fear.
O Allah, help us raise our children as righteous Muslims in this difficult world.
O Allah, make our sacrifices count and bring us closer to You. Ameen.
O Allah ease the difficulties of those who are going through the sufferings. Esp. B/S Palestine/Sudan and all over the world.
